Three years in the making, this is the second generation of Kelly's APEX Trunk. We took the most high-performance trunk ever made and made it even better.
We delivered on Kelly's precise design requests: better no-slip braided drawcords, an enhanced waistband that cinches without bunching, and reinforced ultrasonic-welded seams where it matters most.
We teamed up with our friends at Bureo for their matchless NetPlus® material made from recycled fishing nets. This yielded a truly responsibly made trunk with a little more substance than the first APEX without compromising any performance qualities.
Part of Kelly Slater's Signature Collection, this style features the iconic OK KS Portal logo in Ocean Blue at the back pocket and Ocean Blue OK Dot and Wordmark branding detail.
Performance centered design details throughout:
- Pitched forward side seams with vents for easier fit on the board.
- Unique arc and tangent shaped back pocket featuring a key loop and eleven laser cut drainage holes, one for each of Kelly's world titles.
- Engineered side seam taping.
- Soft touch interior waistband.
- Gusseted fly.
- Soft touch triangles at inner thigh touch points.
- Unique rubberized drawstring with Ocean Blue tips.

"They feel fantastic and love them. Unfortunately I’ve had 2 pairs. First pair seem separated in under 1 month. They were great, sent pictures in and they replaced with gift card. Bought a 2nd pair with new design and unfortunately butt seem separated in 3 weeks. Can’t ware those. Very sad because they are amazing, very hesitant to try again."
"Hands down best surf trunks I’ve ever had. I like them way more than the 1st gen apex, the fit is even better and the material feels like it’s going to last. Also knowing that my money is going towards cleaning up and recycling fish nets, I’ll pay the extra for that alone; but the fact that they are also performance wise the best I’ve ever had, these are no brainer."

"I have owned a number of versions of these OK trunks. Early ones had trouble with seam welds (OK did great on replacements). This pair is the best performing yet! Surfed in them for 2 weeks in Indo. Zero rash, quick drying, flexible and of course fashionable."

"I like some of the updates (drawstring, waist enclosure, new colorways), but two notes: either make them a bit longer or have a longer length version for those of us who wish for more thigh coverage while sitting in the lineup; material is rougher and less supple than the previous version. Also, the website suggests ordering a size up from the previous version, but I found that they fit the same and had to exchange for my original size."

"I bought 2 boardshorts. Had to exchange 1 pair fir another size. They had The Best exchange policy! Put a $1 hold on the card until they receive the return, and mailed out the new size immediately! I received the new size within a week! The board shorts fit better than any pair my son and grandson say they ever had! We have bought Kelly’s board shorts from O’Neill but this pair is outstanding! Dry quick, fit perfect, zipper back pocket. Right on!"

"Ok, first things first, these are a bit stiff when you first try them on. However, once you give them a wash or two they get softer, so no need to worry about that. And once you get them wet, they really start to shine. First pair of boardshorts i've ever owned that feel better when wet than they do when dry. They don't get heavy, dry quickly and are super comfortable. Bought one pair, then immediately bought more. Don't sleep on these."
