What are we wearing and where is it coming from?'
Outerknown was born on questioning and challenging the norms of clothing manufacturing.
"We created Outerknown to smash the formula. To lift the lid on the traditional supply chain and prove you can actually produce great looking menswear in a sustainable way."
Our Commitment
Sustainability means responsible innovation. We build products by making every decision with the highest regard for the environment and the people we work with.
READ OUR CODE OF CONDUCT
SUSTAINABILITY STARTS WITH TRANSPARENCY
We’re global citizens, and we manufacture globally with makers who share our values and abide by the strict guidelines of the Fair Labor Association (FLA) & Bluesign. Check out our full list of suppliers.
MEET OUR SUPPLIERS
We’re surfers who grew up with surf brands, but we grew out of logos. And we want to wear clothing that’s made better, fits better and looks better.
– JOHN MOORE, ON OUR DESIGN APPROACH
Style,Sustainability,Travel.

11 time World Surf League Champion, Kelly Slater and acclaimed designer, John Moore founded Outerknown with the belief that we have an obligation to build better products and understand the way our consumption impacts the world around us.

As designers, we're challenging ourselves to build better, more sustainable products. As producers, we’re lifting the lid on our supply chain, bringing the consumer along on our sustainable journey. As storytellers, we're perpetually evolving our brand vision. As athletes and performers, we're pushed to formerly impossible levels. As global citizens, we're offered the opportunity to observe this multi-cultural world we live in and bring together seemingly unconnected people and ideas for the purpose of discovering the Outerknown.

Outerknown + ECONYL®
Outerknown + ECONYL® We are recycling fishing nets and other nylon waste to make our Trunks and Jackets. Join founder Kelly Slater in following our supply chain from a fishing boat in the North Atlantic, to the ECONYL® recycling facility in Slovenia, and back to the Outerknown design studio in Southern California.
Environment
Studies show that 70% of a company’s environmental impact happens at the raw material level. Land and water use, chemical management, emissions and affluent discharge all add up when manufacturing products. By using organic, recycled and regenerated materials where ever possible, we’re greatly reducing our footprint. Learn More
Community
