Outerknown has been a participating company of the Fair Labor Association from our inception. We’ve committed to uphold the FLA Workplace Code of Conduct, Principals of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout our entire supply chain.
We are the first new brand to align with the Fair Labor Association before ever shipping a product, and by partnering with them we’re creating a new standard for launching a responsible brand. As global citizens it’s imperative to us that the people who make our clothes are treated fairly. Our FLA partnership assists us in monitoring our workforce to make sure they’re paid a fair wage, given appropriate time off, provided with clean working conditions free from discrimination. Something many of us take for granted. It’s a lot of effort to launch a brand under the sustainable guidelines of the FLA, and we know we will make mistakes along the way, however, we hope that we can change the model and inspire others.Learn more
Raw material production is one of the most environmentally intensive operations in apparel. This is where you find the most chemicals, a huge amount of water use and subsequent waste runoff. For us here at Outerknown, we’re constantly trying to lower our impact at every level of our supply chain. Bluesign has created the best industry standard for monitoring and auditing chemical, energy and water use. Therefore, we have chosen them as our partner to help us monitor these impacts throughout our supply chain and manufacturing process. With Bluesign’s help, we ensure that no harmful chemicals enter the manufacturing process to begin with. We do everything we can to partner with Bluesign accredited mills, and we hope that this standard becomes more prevalent across the industry.Learn more
