At Outerknown, we value the innovative spirit that drives us to push boundaries and craft clothing the right way, not the easy way. We take pride in making the most responsible products while holding ourselves accountable through every step of the supply chain. We’re thankful to the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA) for championing a new wave of farming with Regenerative Organic Certified®️ cotton. By supporting regenerative organic agriculture, we’re actively contributing to the rejuvenation of our land and fostering an environment where both nature and livestock can flourish harmoniously. Integrating Regenerative Organic Certified®️ cotton into our collection is a groundbreaking step towards building a truly sustainable future. This program enables us to offer a complete line of garments with unrivaled traceability, connecting the dots from the very soil where our seeds are planted to the precise location where each garment is produced.

1.) SOWING SEEDS

Lambayeque/Chincha

Sowing is the process of planting a seed with the intention of growing a plant, in our case, a cotton plant. We plant and grow our cotton in both Lambayeque (Sojourn Tees) and Chincha (Groovy Tees) using Regenerative Organic Certified®️ farming practices.

2.) HARVESTING

Lambayeque/Chincha

Cotton is harvested by hand using generations of farming knowledge and expertise to hand-select the very best cotton.

3.) GINNING

Lambayeque/Chincha

Seeds and cotton fiber are separated by carefully repurposed heritage cotton gin machines, preserving centuries of tradition while minimizing waste.

4.) SPINNING

Pisco

Ginned organic cotton fiber is transported to our partners in Pisco, where it's spun into yarn.

5.) KNITTING

Lima

Cotton yarn is sent back to our partners in Lima for knitting.

6.) CUT, SEW & DYE

Lima

Knit fabric is then cut, sewn and dyed by family-owned workshops in Lima.

By incorporating Regenerative Organic Certified®️ cotton into our clothing, we’re ensuring every garment in this line contains organic cotton from farms achieving the highest organic standards in the world for soil health, land management, animal welfare and farmworker fairness, all while reducing farming’s environmental impact.
